Victim In Lake Worth Crash Remembered
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - This is was the Deegear family's first Christmas without their little girl.
"Christmas was very hard. We didn't do the same things we usually do," said Mark Deegear, Savannah's father.
But since the crash, friends and family have helped them get through the tough times.
Savannah's story has touched many heart, including Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, who personally invited the family to Cowboys Stadium for a game.
"The Cowboys have a done a lot for us," Mark Deegear said. "I'm a diehard Cowboy fan and Savannah was too."
So Sunday, a Cowboys game day was the perfect day for a memorial for the beloved little girl.
"We are going to do a kind of memorial/ benefit for her and her family," said April Selph, who managers Gator's Bar and Grill in Dallas. "We want everybody to come out and say, 'Hey, we are still here. We are still thinking about you. We're still praying for you and your family.'"
Selph organized a raffle, a silent auction and chili cook-off with a portion of the proceeds going to the family to help with legal expenses.
"It's been very hard for our family. The support has been awesome," Deegear said.
The man who was behind the wheel of the vehicle that killed Savannah has yet to be charged by the Tarrant County District Attorney's office.
In the upcoming year, the Deegear's are hoping for just one thing.
"I'm hoping we get some things resolved with the situation with Savannah and get some justice served, not just for us, but for the other families that got hit in this wreck," he said.
