GAVLESTON (CBSDFW.COM) - A community is rallying around a Muslim man whose business was smeared with bacon grease and bacon strips.

Asad Khan, who owns ZaZa Bar And Bites, says twice in late November his restaurant's front door handle was smeared with bacon grease. His Muslim faith forbids him from eating pork. Khan said using pork to get to him is a clear insult to his faith.

Khan said he has also received phone calls telling him to return to his native Pakistan. In response to the harassment, he plans to install cameras on the outside of the restaurant.

In North Texas, an armed group known for staging protests outside of mosques was filmed earlier this year preparing for what it believes is a Muslim uprising

When people of other faiths heard about the vandalism they decided to eat at Khan's restaurant to send a message that they support him.

The Council on American-Islamic relations is calling on police to investigate.
