Van Zandt County Issues Burn Ban
VAN ZANDT COUNTY (CBSDFW.COM) – Van Zandt County is the latest in North Texas to ban outdoor burning. According to County Fire Marshal Charles Allen, the Commissioner's Court of Van Zandt County established the order Tuesday morning effective immediately.
The order, issued by County Judge Rhita Koches, states, "Circumstances present in all or part of the unincorporated areas of Van Zandt County create a public safety hazard that would be exacerbated by outdoor burning."
Residents are prohibited from using fireworks, BBQ grills, camp fires and from engaging in other combustible activities.
Anyone found violating the order faces a $500 fine.
