Van Crashes Into Dallas Home, Driver Injured

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A van crashed into a home in the Pleasant Grove area of Dallas on Sunday, and the one reported injury was the driver, officials say.

Dallas Fire-Rescue says the crash happened at a home in the 1300 block of Cy Blackburn Circle at around 4:15 p.m.

The driver of the van was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Witness say they watched the driver clear three lanes of traffic before crashing into the house.

The homeowner says there were several people inside the home at the time, but no one else was hurt. The driver went through two bedrooms and a living room.

"I just hear this loud noise, I thought it was an earthquake," said Valarie Smith, the home's owner. "My husband tell that man, 'get out, turn that van off, get out,' and I don't know I just lost it after I saw all that. The house is just tore up."

The van remains inside the home as firefighters at the scene told CBS 11 that there's a concern the home may collapse if it's removed. The family was told it will not be able to stay at the home while the van is still there.

"I don't know what we're going to do. They say we can't go in the house and get none of our belongings. Nothing. They done turned off the gas, turned off the lights, and we can't go in the house." said Smith.

The family says it's staying in a hotel and that the Red Cross is helping.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
