UTEP To Test 'Shooter On Campus' Reponse
EL PASO (AP) - Police will practice a response to a simulated gunman on campus at the University of Texas at El Paso.
UTEP spokeswoman Veronique Masterson said campus and El Paso city police will respond to the call Tuesday morning.
She says this is the second time UTEP performs a drill like this. The last time was about three years ago.
Masterson says this drill has been planned since last December and is unrelated to the string of shootings in Colorado, Wisconsin and Texas. The exercise happens a day after a gunman killed a police officer, a civilian and himself near the Texas A&M University campus in College Station.
Masterson says the exercise is part of a series of routine drills the university does to prepare for emergency situations.
