UT System Regents To Vote On Tuition Rates

AUSTIN (AP) - University of Texas System regents have scheduled a Tuesday vote on tuition rates for in-state students.

The Board of Regents voted last week to raise tuition for out-of-state students but delayed a decision for in-state rates. The delay came after Gov. Rick Perry urged regents to find alternative funding methods.

School presidents have warned that without more money they risk losing top faculty to competitors.

The flagship Austin campus, which clashed with regents over tuition in 2012, asked for increases that would push the average semester cost over $5,000. Regents haven't raised tuition at UT Austin since 2011.
