US Airways Moving Pittsburgh Operations To DFW
FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - US Airways will be moving its Pittsburgh based operations center to North Texas as the new American Airlines continues to take shape.
American Airlines spokesman Todd Lehmacher says US Airways will begin the transition by December 2014.
It's a move that will impact hundreds of current employees at the Pittsburgh center.
Schedulers, controllers, and dispatchers are among the 600 positions that will merge with American's integrated operations control center in Fort Worth.
In a statement, American said, "Consolidating our two operations centers into one team....is the right decision for our business and our customers, and a necessary step on our mission to make the new American the world's best airline."
Some of the workers may not transition to DFW, which means the move could produce some new job opportunities for North Texans.
