US-75 in Dallas reopens after fatal crash involving pedestrian
A portion of US-75 shut down in Dallas Wednesday morning due to a fatal crash involving a pedestrian.
Southbound lanes of the highway at Royal Lane were shut down, causing a backup all the way to Richardson during the morning rush hour.
According to the Dallas Police Department, the crash was reported just after 11 p.m. Tuesday. Officers said when they arrived, there was a woman who was hit by multiple vehicles. She died at the scene.
Traffic was being forced off at the Royal Lane exit onto the service road.
A CBS News Texas photographer at the scene saw investigators setting up barriers, blocking the highway. Debris could also be seen on the road.
The Texas Department of Transportation sent cleanup crews to the scene around 8:30 a.m. – they said they anticipated the cleanup to begin two hours earlier.
The lanes reopened and the scene was cleared by 10 a.m., nearly 12 hours after the crash happened.
