University Of Houston Suspends Fraternity For Alleged Hazing

HOUSTON (AP) - The University of Houston president suspended the university's Sigma Chi fraternity chapter in the wake of fraternity allegations at the chapter.
In a statement Tuesday, university President Renu Khator he was "shocked, dismayed and deeply disappointed" by the allegations. Khator also said the university has suspended five students accused of committing the acts, which were not detailed by the university.
However, Khator says that if further investigation shows the allegations to be true, the five "will be subject to immediate disciplinary action, up to and including expulsion."
University police have turned over its findings to the Harris County District Attorney's Office, which Khator says will determine if criminal charges will be filed.
