UFC's Chris Camozzi Gets Career Best Opportunity
Chris Camozzi always planned on fighting on Saturday's "UFC on FX 8" card in Brazil. He didn't always plan on fighting Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza. He certainly didn't expect to be in The UFC's co main event.
Injuries to multiple scheduled opponents have in fact landed the middleweight near the top of the evening's bouts, against one of the biggest names competing on the card. Although a significant underdog, Camozzi suddenly finds himself in the most high profile fight of his career.
A former Ultimate Fighter contestant, Camozzi is on his second stint with the organization, currently riding a four fight win streak that has brought with it a lot of momentum. Just five weeks ago he defeated Nick Ring, and he wasted no time in getting right back in the cage at the first opportunity given to him by matchmaker Joe Silva.
Camozzi will likely look to keep the fight standing, but in my conversation with him from Brazil, he assured me that a ground battle would by no means spell the end of his chances.
