UD Students To Pray With Pope In Washington, D.C.

IRVING (CBSDFW.COM) – A group of about a dozen students from the University of Dallas are headed to Washington D.C. for a trip of a lifetime and a lesson in history that the books could never teach.
They are going to pray with Pope Francis during the canonization mass of missionary priest Juniper Serra. The students managed to receive some of the rarest tickets in the world to take part in the mass, which will be held at the Basilica of The National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington D.C.
UD senior Emily Lataif is one of those lucky students and said, "I think we're representing literally the millions of young Catholics who are enthusiastic about their faith."
She added, "Pope Francis has a message of joy. He is a very joyful person, and my generation wants to be part of that joy. We want to lead happy lives."
The group of students will have the opportunity to see the pope in both Washington D.C. and in Philadelphia.
