Uber Drivers Still At Odds With Management
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A protest involving Uber drivers and a lack of resolution has some users of the popular ride-sharing service delays are on horizon.
Several dozen UberBlack drivers gathered outside the Dallas Uber office Friday night to protest policy changes and rate modifications.
UberBlack drivers use high-end SUVs and is considered the premium service. Drivers are now being forced to pick up rides on the UberX platform, which is the low cost ride platform.
Some users of the app said if service is interrupted, they will use other app based services or a traditional taxi.
"I think the company created it. I think for the Uber drivers, you either get with Uber or you get with your own. Simple as that. I don't think they should have a say on it," said Darren Johnson.
Other understand the need to make money, but feel if drivers are unhappy they should look at other jobs in the market.
"I think it's a fair rate that they're getting. You know what? If you don't want to be an Uber driver, don't be an Uber driver. Don't protest, get a new job," said Frank Lazzara.
Uber Dallas released a statement saying the policy changes are aimed at increasing trips for drivers. The more trips they make, the more money they earn.
A resolution between drivers and Uber has not surfaced.
