U.S. & Mexico Experts Discuss Border Issues

EL PASO (AP) - A panel of U.S. and Mexico diplomats, politicians and business leaders will meet to discuss cross-border commerce, infrastructure investments and immigration reform.

The talks will come at a U.S.-Mexico competitiveness agenda conference in El Paso on Wednesday.

Among the conference speakers are Anthony Wayne, the U.S. ambassador to Mexico Anthony Wayne, and Mexican counterpart Eduardo Medina. The conference will also host U.S. Rep. Beto O'Rourke, an El Paso Democrat, and Mexican Federal Congress member Javier Trevino. U.S. diplomat John Negroponte, chairman of the Council of the Americas, organized the event.

The event is co-hosted by the University of Texas at El Paso. A UTEP statement says participants will discuss what lies ahead for the U.S.-Mexican economic relationship nearly 20 years after the North American Free Trade Agreement was implemented.
