U.S. House Panel Tours Texas-Mexico Border
HARLINGEN (AP) - A U.S. House delegation touring the U.S.-Mexico border this week is starting its study in the Lower Rio Grande Valley.
House Homeland Security Chairman Michael McCaul, R-Texas, is leading the delegation that begins its border tour in Mission Tuesday morning. Officials of the U.S. Border Patrol and Texas Department of Public Safety will lead the tour. The delegation also travels to Harlingen to examine the National Guard's aerial detection and monitoring capability for border protection.
The tour is an enforcement-only measure that is part of the House Republican leadership's more stringent answer to the Senate's immigration reform bill.
