TXA's 2011 High School Game Of The Week Schedule
NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) - TXA 21 today announced its 2011 High School Football Game of the Week broadcast schedule.
The season begins Thursday, Aug. 25 with a live broadcast of Class 4A powers Rockwall Heath and West Mesquite. Both teams advanced to the playoffs in 2010 and will look to carry that momentum into the 2011 season.
The Game of the Week's first Friday night broadcast will be Sept. 2, when Denton Ryan faces Newman Smith in Carrollton. Ryan Coach Joey Florence has a formidable defense that is led by defensive end Mario Edwards. Newman Smith is a budding playoff power, with five postseason wins in the last two years.
On Friday, Sept. 9, McKinney hosts McKinney Boyd on TXA 21. The following week, district play opens, and the Game of the Week showcases a District 10-5A battle between North Garland and Sachse.
Next, a pair of cross-town rivals clash on TXA 21 in back-to-back weeks. Keller Central faces Keller in a District 7-5A matchup on Friday, Sept. 23, followed by a live broadcast on Thursday, Sept. 29 of the District 6-5A showdown between Hurst LD Bell and Euless Trinity.
TXA 21's four games in October will have major implications in the race for district titles across North Texas. A classic matchup on Friday, October 7 will pit a prolific offense against a dominating defense as Highland Park faces Wylie in a District 10-4A meeting.
TXA 21 viewers will have the opportunity to see two teams from what is widely considered one of the best districts in Texas on Oct. 21, when 8-5A's Flower Mound Marcus hosts Allen at Marauder Stadium.
On Oct. 28, the TXA 21 showcases a crosstown "grudge match" when the Frisco Liberty faces Frisco Wakeland at Pizza Hut Park. Last year, Liberty handed Wakeland their only loss in district play.
The High School Game of the Week closes out the regular season schedule with a pair of games on Nov. 3 and 4. On Thursday, Nov. 3, Argyle faces Sanger in a showdown that matches two of the best quarterbacks in the area. Argyle's Austin Aune and Sanger's Dane Evans will battle in a game that should determine the champion of District 9-3A. On Friday, Nov. 4, Duncanville hosts Cedar Hill in a District 5-5A showdown. This game is expected to determine playoff positioning and could crown the district champion.
In addition to the regular season schedule, TXA 21 will broadcast high school football playoff games starting the weekend of Nov. 11, continuing through the weekend of Dec. 10.
