DALLAS/FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) – TXA 21 announced Tuesday the 2016 High School Football Game of the Week schedule, with matchups featuring many of the most highly-ranked teams and recruits in Texas.
This year's coverage on TXA 21 also showcases Frisco ISD's new indoor stadium with a weekly half-hour high school football show airing Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. live from The Ford Center at The Star, the Dallas Cowboys' new team headquarters, beginning Sept. 8.
The broadcast schedule is as follows:
Friday, Aug. 26, 10:30 p.m. -- Denton Ryan (13-1) at Lancaster (10-4)
The TXA 21 season kicks off with one of the most highly anticipated season openers in the state. It's a matchup between two of last season's state quarterfinalists. Highly-touted Denton Ryan DT Earnest Brown, a Northwestern commit, leads a Raider squad that's ranked #1 in Texas in Class 5A, while Lancaster is #12 in Texas Football's pre-season rankings.
Friday, Sept. 2, 10:30 p.m. -- Mansfield (12-3) at Cedar Hill (9-2)
College scouts will be plentiful at Longhorn Stadium as 2015 Landry Award finalist Kennedy Brooks leads Mansfield against a talented Cedar Hill squad led by highly-recruited QB Avery Davis, a Notre Dame commit.
Friday, Sept. 9, 10:30 p.m. -- Waxahachie (6-4) at Ennis (6-5)
Tradition-rich Ennis hopes to return to its 2014 state championship form in this non-district encounter with rival Waxahachie, coached by former Dallas Cowboy Jon Kitna and led by WR Jalen Reagor, an Oklahoma recruit.
Friday, Sept. 16, 10:30 p.m. -- Lovejoy (8-4) at Highland Park (10-2)
The District 15-5A season re-racks with a shootout between Randy Allen's Highland Park Scots and a Lovejoy Leopard team that won't be snookered as it banks on a defense which takes its cue from LB Bumper Pool.
Friday, Sept. 23, 10:30 p.m. -- Bridgeport (5-5) at Decatur (9-2)
"The Battle of Big Sandy" dates back more than 100 years, and in this year's edition of the storied rivalry, Decatur's hopes hinge on a high-octane offense led by QB Tyler Ticknor, while Bridgeport will rely on an experienced defense that returns a dozen players who started games last year.
Friday, Sept. 30, 10:30 p.m. -- Grand Prairie (2-8) at South Grand Prairie (7-5)
This crosstown rivalry is played at one of the most unique venues in North Texas, the Gopher Bowl. SGP is coming off a playoff upset win over powerful Euless Trinity last year.
Friday, Oct. 7, 10:30 p.m. -- Skyline (9-3) at Jesuit (10-2)
This has turned into one of the best rivalry matchups in the Metroplex each year. Two area finalists a year ago, both Skyline and Jesuit should challenge Coppell for District 9-6A supremacy.
Thursday, Oct. 13, 7:00 p.m. -- Euless Trinity (10-1) at Hurst Bell (1-9)
The renewal of this Mid-Cities rivalry game will again be a live Thursday night telecast on TXA 21. The Trinity Trojans are state-ranked again, #10 in the Texas Football pre-season poll.
Friday, Oct. 14, 10:30 p.m. -- Frisco Wakeland (8-3) at Frisco Lone Star (14-2)
Lone Star Senior QB Jason Shelley led the ninth ranked Rangers all the way to a state championship game appearance last year. Wakeland should be led by speedy RB Jay Orji in this rivalry game to be played indoors at the brand new Ford Center at The Star in Frisco.
Friday, Oct. 21, 10:30 p.m. -- Colleyville Heritage (5-6) at Grapevine (8-3)
This rivalry matchup is once again a district affair as Colleyville Heritage moves down from Class 6A. The Panthers have a high-powered offense, featuring Senior QB Cam Roane, a San Diego State commit, and Junior WR Ke'von Ahmad. Grapevine Junior QB Alan Bowman threw 27 TD passes as a sophomore.
Friday, Oct 28, 10:30 p.m. -- Aledo (13-2) at Justin Northwest (1-9)
Perennial power Aledo, ranked #2 in Class 5A, is loaded for another deep post-season run after advancing all the way to the state semifinals in 2015.
Thursday, Nov. 3, 7:00 p.m. -- Arlington Martin (10-3) at Arlington Lamar (11-2)
The final Thursday night of the regular season, live on TXA 21, showcases another crosstown rivalry matchup between two teams that combined for 21 wins last year.
Friday, Nov. 4, 10:30 p.m. – To be determined by popular vote here.
All Friday night regular season broadcasts will air on a same-night tape delay. An encore broadcast of one game each week will air Saturdays at 11:00 a.m.

Playoff game broadcasts will be announced at a later date.
