AUSTIN (1080 KRLD) - Texas House Speaker Joe Straus gave various clues to who he's endorsing to be the next President of the United States.
During the Q&A portion of his keynote speech at the Governing Texas Leadership forum Straus was asked what top issue he thought will dominate the 2016 presidential campaign. Straus said the American public is trying to settle on a leader who can help do things that serious candidates are talking about right now.
"I'm a little biased. I care mostly about a former governor of a southern state whose brother and father have been prominent in public service."
Straus says he thinks former Florida Governor Jeb Bush's message about robust economic growth sooner or later will break through with the American public and will help propel him higher in the polls.
Straus has been gaining national party prominence as he recently accepted an offer to chair the 2016 Republican Legislative Campaign Committee.
