2 Women Set On Fire In Fort Worth
FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Police are still searching for the woman who entered a North Fort Worth convenience store and doused two women with a flammable liquid before setting them on fire.
Two women were inside the Buy and Save store on the 2700 block of Azle Ave playing video games when a woman came in with a cup and doused the women.
In an instant the women erupted in flames.
"All I know is I was making coffee and I see a bunch of fires coming so that's when I went and I tried to help her out," said Alex Hilo, who was working the overnight shift at the store.
One victim had burns mostly contained on her back. She was able to roll on the ground and out the fire.
The second victim was in flames from the waist up.
"All the top of her body, her hair, her face, everything," Hilo said. "I took her outside and I tried to take her clothes off because she had whatever it is so I tried to help out. That's when I burned my hand."
Hilo tried to douse her with water, afraid that the nearby gas pumps would ignite.
The woman whose back was on fire was transported to John Peter Smith hospital. She is expected to be okay.
The second vicitm, however, had serious life threatening injuries.
"One woman didn't -- wasn't able to communicate. She was in pretty bad shape, the one that was careflighted to Parkland," said Lt. Tim Hardeman, public information officer for the Fort Worth Fire Department.
Police and fire investigators spent the morning gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses, saying it appeared to be a targeted attack.
The victims names have not been released.
Police know who the suspect is but have not released her name
