3 People Robbed Along Katy Trail
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Two people were robbed at gunpoint on Sunday along the Katy Trail and another person was attacked by a group of men in a silver sedan on Saturday, police incident reports show.
The first happened at 11:25 p.m. Saturday, when a victim walking in the 3700 block of Travis was approached by a silver sedan. Two suspects exited the car; one punched the man while the other stood back with his hand jammed in his pocket, the report says.
The suspect threatened he had a gun while his partner put the victim in a chokehold. The suspects ordered the man to hand over his phone and money –– they made off with an iPhone 4S, $5 in cash, a state driver's license and a pair of debit cards.
Then at 1:39 a.m. –– a suspect clutching a gun approached a woman walking in the 3100 block of Routh St. and demanded she give up her belongings.
The report says the suspect made off with a black Kate Spade purse worth $300; a $230 Kate Spade wallet; an iPhone 4; three credit cards and the woman's driver's license.
Then at about 6:45 a.m., a 34-year-old man was jogging on the Katy Trail when a pair of suspects stuck a gun to his head and "demanded everything from him," the report says.
"I looked over and he was holding a gun next to my head," the victim, who asked to not be identified, said. "I stopped immediately and he said, 'Give me everything you've got.'" I had an iPhone on an armband, headphones and five dollars in cash and he took it all."
The suspects made off with his iPhone 3GS. The report says the suspects darted off in an "unknown direction" following the crime.
Officers have not addressed whether they're related. No suspects have been identified.
The robberies occurred about a mile from one another.
"The fact that it's a high-traffic area and that there were so many people around and it still happened is a little concerning," said Carrie Ann Peterson, a runner.
