IRVING (CBSDFW.COM) - A man and woman were found shot to death inside an Irving apartment Wednesday.

The family of one of the victims says it started with a nasty break-up.

They say Elizabeth Adams, a 19-year-old mother of two, was living with her ex-boyfriend and their two kids.

But her mother told CBS11 she moved out Wednesday to another apartment in this same complex to escape abuse.

Connie Adams says her daughter approached her this morning with bruises. Adams says she immediately helped her daughter move into her nearby apartment.

She says Elizabeth was there with a guy friend and her three younger siblings, when her ex came looking for her.

She apparently hid in the bathroom with her friend - while a witness says the ex reportedly held a gun to her 14-year-old brother.

"He came and grabbed a gun... Put the gun up to my son.... shot my daughter and shot her friend," says Connie Adams.

Police say they got the call around 5:25 p.m. to the 300 block of Rolston Road.

When they got there, officers got a tip the suspect was in another apartment unit.

They found him in his apartment and arrested him.

The one and two-year-old children were not there when the shooting happened and they are safe with other family.
