2 Moms, 2 Sons, 2 Teams In Super Bowl XLV
BEDFORD (CBSDFW.COM) - Long before Dimitri Nance was a hulking NFL running back, he was a Pee Wee football player in Euless. "He slept with the football in his hand," remembers his mother, Joyce Nance.
Over the years, she watched him grow, and so did all her coworkers at HCA Healthcare in Bedford. "Everybody here just about knows him. They followed him through high school, through college," said Nance.
But, then one day, she met her match. "One day I walked up to her, and I was like 'I heard about Dimitri,' and we've just clicked ever since," said her coworker, Diane Browning.
Browning also had a son headed to the NFL. Last year, as Dimitri signed with the Green Bay Packers, Browning's son Dorian Brooks joined the practice squad for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Then, recently, a coworker asked them – what would be the odds they would both head to the Super Bowl the year it's so close to home? "We laughed about it. And, I said, 'yea, right.' Wouldn't that be a trip? Then he walked away, and I looked at her and said, 'wouldn't that be something?" remembers Browning.
This weekend, that wishful thinking became reality. "When the Steelers won, she called me… We were both screaming. I don't think we could hear what each other was saying last night, we were screaming so loud," said Browning.
Now the only problem is – deciding what team they'll be cheering for Super Bowl Sunday.
