2 Highway Patrolmen Hurt When Hit By Car In Mesquite
MESQUITE (AP) - Two Texas Department of Public Safety patrolmen were injured, one critically, when a car veered into them as they worked a routine traffic stop on a suburban Dallas expressway.
A Mesquite police statement says DPS Sgt. David Cramer and Trooper Germaine Gaspard stopped someone they thought was driving suspiciously before dawn Sunday on Interstate 635, just north of Interstate 30. While they were questioning the driver, a sports car veered onto the shoulder and struck Cramer and his vehicle.
Cramer was listed in critical but stable condition at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, where Gaspard was treated for minor injuries.
The sports car's driver was treated for minor injuries and released into Mesquite police custody. Malcolm Antonio Christopher was later charged with intoxication assault.
