2 Bodies Found In Arlington Apartment
ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - Arlington Police discovered two dead bodies inside an apartment early Tuesday morning in a possible murder-suicide involving a mother and her estranged boyfriend.
Around 2:30 a.m., officers were dispatched to perform a welfare check in east Arlington in the 2700 block of Medicine Pass. When the officers arrived, they found blood outside the apartment that indicated a criminal offense may have taken place at the location.
The officers then forced entry into the apartment, where the two bodies were found.
According to Christopher Cook with the Arlington Police Department, one of the dead was a young woman, around 18 years of age. The second was a young man, described as being in his 20's.
"We believe the relationship of the young man to the woman is that he's an estranged boyfriend and the father of her child," said Cook. "So at this point, detectives have not ruled out the possibility that this could be a murder-suicide."
Police were first alerted by a relative, who reported that the young mother had not picked up her child after leaving work on Monday evening as planned.
"We will continue to speak with relatives and piece together a timeline as to what time she got off work, why she didn't go to the relatives house, and stuff like that," said Cook.
Detectives believe that the altercation began outside of the apartment and eventually led back inside. Police are looking to interview neighbors to determine if anything was seen or heard leading up to the incident.
The investigation is ongoing and crime scene is still being processed. Police believe that a firearm may have been involved in the incident.
The names of the victims have not been released.
