Twin-Engine Plane Crash In Tarrant County
FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - A flight instructor and two students were hospitalized following a small twin-engine plane crash in northern Tarrant County Wednesday morning.
The plane went down in the 3200 block of Peden Road in Fort Worth, just before 10:00 a.m.
Tarrant County Sheriff's Department spokesman Terry Grisham confirmed that two males and one female were on board the plane when it went down. One of the men was a flight instructor, the other two people were flight students.
Two of the people on board were taken by air ambulance to JPS hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries. The other patient was taken to JPS by ground ambulance. All three left the scene alive.
"It's a miracle anyone survived," said Grisham.
The plane went down in a field near Hicks Airport. Pro Aircraft Flight Training, located at the airport, owns the plane. Panicked emergency calls report the plane "pretty much exploded" in the air.
"It's on fire out there right now," the caller said.

The view from Chopper 11 showed most of the plane, a twin-engine Beechcraft, destroyed with only the tail section of the aircraft recognizable. It was later officially confirmed that the airplane was completely destroyed. "The aircraft crashed in the field behind me, caught on fire, and is a total loss," said Grisham.
The crash sparked a small grass fire but firefighters were able to quickly extinguish it.
Officials with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are investigating the crash.
