Trophy Club Police Chase Ends With Crash Into Tree

TROPHY CLUB (CBSDFW.COM) - A police chase in Trophy Club on Tuesday morning ended with a crash that seriously hurt the suspect. The incident happened just after 3:30 a.m. as a police officer was attempting to perform a traffic stop.

As the officer was approaching the suspect's vehicle, the driver sped away at a high rate of speed -- said to be at least 90 mph. The chase did not last very long before the suspect crossed over the center line and crashed into a tree near the intersection of Trophy Club Drive and Avenue 20, near the Trophy Club Country Club.

Rescue workers spent more then 20 minutes getting the suspect free from the wreckage. He was transported by air ambulance Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth. "The driver was severely injured, but with non-life threatening injuries," said Commander Lee Delk. "He had to be extricated from the vehicle."

According to the police, the suspect was driving a stolen vehicle and had several types of electronic devices inside of the car. He was initially being pulled over on suspicion of drunk driving.
