Trial Date Set For Fort Hood Shooting Suspect
FORT HOOD (CBSDFW.COM) - The general court-martial of Maj. Nidal Hasan, the Army psychiatrist charged with the 2009 Fort Hood shootings, is scheduled to begin August 20.
Hasan's attorneys wanted his court-martial delayed from August until December, saying they needed more time to prepare.
Maj. Hasan's defense team is also asking that a terrorism expert not be allowed to testify at the court-martial. They are questioning the methods Evan Kohlmann used in his study of the case in which he concluded that Hasan is a homegrown terrorist.
Hasan faces the death penalty if convicted of 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder.
