TRE Services Delayed By Collision With Truck In Irving

IRVING (CBSDFW.COM) - TRE services were delayed Monday morning after a train struck a truck that was sitting on the tracks in Irving.

The accident occurred around 9:45 a.m. between Heritage Crossing and the West Irving Station. The female driver of the truck was transported to Parkland Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The tracks were closed for 45 minutes to an hour while DART Police inspected the tracks. Delays of up to 45 minutes are expected to continue Monday afternoon until at least 2 p.m.

Mark Ball of DART explained that the collision was unavoidable.

"Of course the train was already slowing down since it was approaching the station. The operator could see the vehicle but there was nothing they could do about it."

The train's passengers were not injured and were switched to another train to continue on their journey. The train involved in the accident was taken out of service.

Irving Police and DART Police are investigating the incident and are uncertain as to why the truck was parked on the tracks.
