Travelers From Around The World Trapped At DFW
DFW AIRPORT (CBSDFW.COM) - Jorge Garcia has an itinerary, and tickets... lots of them. Now, if he could just get a flight.
Garcia is one of 72 architectural students traveling from Mexico City to New York to see great buildings like the Guggenheim Museum, Empire State Building and other significant architectural landmarks of New York.
But they only got to DFW before Sandy changed their plans.
The students, who are making the best of their delay, say they've been planning their trip for 8 months and will not be turning around now. The earliest they will be able to depart is Friday.
Meanwhile, across Terminal D, one of New York's finest has had to extend his stay from Sunday's Cowboys/Giants game.
Officer Rich Fazzio has been unable to return to his post - he works as a subway officer - but that hasn't stopped him and a few friends from trying to get home.
Fazzio and friend Joseph Avino say they tried to take advantage of a couple of extra days in North Texas, but knew they were needed at home.

Wednesday afternoon the men decided to fly to Washington, D.C. and drive up. Currently only JFK Airport in New York is open. LaGuardia remains closed as parts of the runway are still underwater.
Both say their families are okay, but Fazzio knows his city needs him.
Fazzio says the NYPD will put him back to work in the subways as soon as he gets home.
