Approximately 30 Train Cars Derail Outside Of Hillsboro In Hill County
HILL COUNTY, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) - A train derailed just outside of Hillsboro around 3:45 p.m. Monday.
It happened off of Highway 81 just north of the city.
No one was injured and no chemicals spilled.
Approximately 30 cars on a Union Pacific train derailed south of Itasca.
The Hill County Sheriff's Department released the following statement:
Due to a recent train derailment just outside of Hillsboro, Union Pacific and other work crews are diligently trying to clean up. Please AVOID the area of HCR 4281 just outside Hillsboro for the next 24 hours. The road will be shut off due to loading and off-loading heavy equipment. The closed portion of the road will be closed between HCR 4231 and HCR 4223. If you live between this area, you will be allowed to pass safely. Please have patience with the work crews. Your assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated by all involved. I would also like for you to know that nobody was injured during this accident and there were no chemical spills at all.
