Traffic & Revenue Rise For American Airlines
FORT WORTH (AP) - AMR Corp. says December traffic on American Airlines and American Eagle rose 2.1 percent.
The Fort Worth-based company said Wednesday that passenger revenue for every seat flown one mile rose 1.6 percent from December 2011.
Airlines raised fares less often in 2012 than in 2011, when they needed to cover rapidly rising fuel costs, which made for smaller increases in the revenue statistic as 2012 wore on.
Traffic rose as passengers flew 11.29 billion miles last month, up from 11.07 billion in December 2011. Domestic traffic rose 2.4 percent and international traffic increased 2.1 percent. American's traffic rose 2.3 percent while Eagle's fell 0.4 percent.
AMR, American and Eagle have been operating under bankruptcy protection since November 2011.
