Track DFW Elected Officials During 82nd Legislative Session
AUSTIN (CBSDFW.COM) - The 82nd Texas Legislature convened in Austin Monday, and lawmakers will spend more than four months battling a budget shortfall estimated to be between $15 billion and $28 billion.
We've created two interactive maps that will let you track the legislative progress of state senators and representatives from the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Each map is divided by districts, and shaded according to the political party each senator or representative is affiliated with: Red for Republicans, blue for Democrats.
Of the 44 House districts we're tracking, 34 are Republican and 10 are Democrat. This is further evidence of the GOP supermajority in the Texas House of Representatives: Republicans own 100 of the 150 seats.
Republicans also occupy seven of the nine state Senate districts we're tracking with our data application. Of the 31 Senate Districts in the state, 19 are Republican and 12 are Democrat.
But on to the applications: When you click one of the districts, you'll see a popup menu with information about the district and its senator or representative. The menu also contains links to let you track all the legislation authored or sponsored by that elected official. These links are updated by the state each day and contain brief descriptions of each bill your lawmaker is involved with.
You'll also find links to a directory page for each lawmaker. Those pages were compiled by our friends at the nonprofit journalism website The Texas Tribune.
