Tornadoes Strike Mineral Wells; Damage Reported

MINERAL WELLS (CBSDFW.COM/AP) — One and perhaps two tornadoes have struck the old North Texas resort town of Mineral Wells, and initial reports indicate widespread damage.
The Mineral Wells police department confirmed building near its headquarters were hit.
There were no immediate reports of injuries.
Telephone lines into the city were jammed after the 7:30 p.m. storm roared through the city Tuesday. However, reports from the scene indicated the worst damage was the collapse of the roof to a vacated bank building downtown. Large trees and power lines were strewn across many major streets in the city, making were broken and downed across the city.
Another tornado was reported earlier in the Brazos Valley city of Giddings, inflicting non-life-threatening lacerations on a man. Giddings Emergency Manager Spencer Schneider says a tornado struck part of the city shortly after noon Tuesday, damaging outbuildings and some roofs.
