Tornado Sucks Survivor Into The Air
GRANBURY (CBSDFW.COM) - Life is getting back to normal in Granbury after an EF-4 tornado hit the community Wednesday.
At times the twisters showed little mercy. Some people lost their homes, others -- their lives or loved ones.
Most residents CBS 11 spoke to have expressed gratitude for simply making it through the storm.
One of those survivors, Christy Green, spoke about her experience from John Peter Smith Hospital where she is recovering. She's battered from the storm, but up and walking... eager to move on.
"I'm still in shock -- seriously," said Green.
She had no idea her home was right in the path of the deadly tornado, which tore through her neighborhood.

"We were watching the storm, and he was like it's going to be okay. It's just a little hail..."
But it didn't take long for Green to realize she and her two sons and dog needed to take cover. The family huddled tightly together in the closet, their house taking the brunt of the tornado's wrath. They could hear destruction around them, brick by brick, frame by frame.
"And it just got louder and louder and you could hear it just snapping and breaking the house," according to Green, who soon realized her closet wasn't a safe haven anymore.
"I looked at Brendon and he goes I love you mom. I said grab the closet door and shut it and he went to grab it and he flew out. And I was right behind him."
Airborne, Green started praying.
"I said please I can not take another minute please just stop it."
Her prayers were answered as she fell to the ground. The family had survived but not with out injury.
Cuts and bruises are marks left from her terrifying ordeal. The tornado that ripped apart her house and hijacked her for those moments in the air left her with a fractured neck, staples in her knee and bleeding on her brain. She almost lost an ear, too.
But she hasn't lost her smile despite the pain she has suffered.
Her family is staying with a friend since their Habitat for Humanity home was damaged. Her teenage son will attend Texas A&M and plans to study meteorology.
