Top 10 Memorable Moments In Houston Texans History

DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN) -- There are so many great moments in Houston Texans history. So many that we had trouble making a list of the franchise's top 10 moments.

In advance of Sunday's Cowboys-Texans game at AT&T Stadium, here's what we came up with.

1. Houston Is Granted the NFL's 32nd Franchise

The Houston Oilers bolted to Tennessee in 1997. In 2002, the league returned to Houston.

After failing to bring an NHL expansion franchise to Houston, Bob McNair joined a group that purchased an NFL franchise for $700 million. The group also pushed for Reliant Stadium, a 71,000+ seat stadium with a retractable roof, which debuted in 2002.

The team narrowed its search down to five name choices -- the Bobcats, Stallions, Texans, Toros, and Apollos -- before settling on the most original name possible: the Texans.

2. Houston Beats Cincinnati In Playoffs, Twice

After winning 18 games in their first four seasons, the Texans finally broke through in 2007 (meaning they finished 8-8).

Four years later, Houston won consecutive AFC South titles (2011, 2012). Each year, they defeated the Cincinnatti Bengals in the Wild Card round, only to lose on the road in the Divisional round of the AFC playoffs.

Looking for more Houston Texans playoff history? Sorry, that's it.

3. No. 1 Overall Picks Galore!

Since 2002, no team has owned the no. 1 overall pick in multiple seasons -- that is, no one outside of Houston.

David Carr was the first in 2002 and appeared in 76 meaningless games with the Texans.

Mario Williams appeared in two Pro Bowls with Houston before promptly leaving for Buffalo.

And Jadeveon Clowney. The jury is still out -- and so is he.

4. A Two-Win Season

You really have to try to be this bad in today's NFL, right?

Though Matt Schaub had a record-breaking season in 2013, the Texans lost each of their last 14 games.

The record you ask... Schaub threw a pick-six in four consecutive games. Impressive!

5. Any moments we're missing?

6. Surely there'something else...

7. Any ideas?

8. No AFC Championships.

9. Wait for it...

10. We found another memorable moment!

It was an epic collapse! Sage Rosenfels and the Texans blew a 17-point lead with less than five minutes remaining to the Peyton Manning led Colts in 2008.

Rosenfels turned the ball over three times in that span. The most entertaining turnover? The helicopter style Sage Rosenfumble -- the RosenCoptor!

Enjoy.
