Todays' @CBSDFW STORM TEAM BLOG: Summer's Last Stand?

After a relatively mild weekend with rain Saturday and highs in the 80s Sunday, we're heating up again for the start of this week.

We will get even hotter for Tuesday and Wednesday as high pressure in the upper levels continues its grip over North Texas.  But a strong cold front will move through the area Wednesday night and will usher in some much cooler air and a good chance of rain as well.  Look for about a 40% chance of thunderstorms late Wednesday night.

The front will move south Thursday and Friday and that north wind will really work over our weather!  Mostly cloudy skies, decent rain coverage and  well-below normal temperatures are in the forecast.

Check out where the heart of this cold air is on Thursday in the northern U.S....afternoon temps in the 30s in the northern Rockies!

Here's Friday morning...some 20s showing up!!

Friday afternoon shows the cool air making it as far south as North Texas.

The free-fall in temperatures is dramatic from Wednesday to Friday!  Rain chances start Wednesday night.  Off and on showers linger into Friday...it will be a cool rain for sure by then.

We'll dry out for the weekend, but stay on the mild side with highs in the 80s and lows in the 60s.
