Tips For Making Money On YouTube
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - With the click of a mouse, millions of dollars are generated through video sharing websites like YouTube. Earning a piece of that pie for yourself can be pretty easy, if you know what to do and how to do it. A couple of DFW viral video personalities recently sat down to share their money-making strategies.
Fun-filled trips to places like Disneyland are the heart of Adam Rucker's successful YouTube videos (Rucker on YouTube). His tour of the park's new Cars Land has been seen more than a million times, and one viewer even commented, "Your excitement is contagious!"
"I like Disney," said Rucker. "I think people appreciate that."
Rucker has a partnership with YouTube. He could not divulge how much he has earned from the video sharing website, but it is enough to allow him to keep traveling to new cities and recording popular videos for his more than 12,000 loyal subscribers.
The money comes when YouTube is able to place more ads online, with popular videos. Users who upload videos and want to earn profits can do so by signing up for a program called Google AdSense.
Ricky Anderson II is an active YouTube personality as well (Anderson on YouTube). "Make videos every day," he said, reading a motto inscribed on his bracelet. Years ago, he did not think much of the video sharing destination. "I was like, yeah, just a video website where people upload videos of their kittens." Now, he puts a lot of time into his creations and offers advice to help other aspiring YouTube entrepreneurs.
"I would suggest that people make what they love," Anderson said. "I like making funny, nerdy videos, because I like watching funny, nerdy videos."
More tips from both men include:
- create a lot of content.
- upload videos often.
- keep a routine, so that viewers know when to expect a new and original video.
- be patient and persistent, because it takes time to build a following.
"In the end, your passion pays off," Rucker said. "But you have to want to be there because you really enjoy what you're doing on YouTube."
