Thunderstorm, Stiff Winds Cause Damage in Terrell
Ferocious winds, some roof damage and a hot, smokey grass fire. It was a busy afternoon in Terrell where a late Summer thunderstorm popped up yesterday. Winds of at least 60 miles-an-hour were recorded in Kaufman County, enough to blow off a big chunk of the roof at the Villager Inn on Highway 80 on the west edge of Terrell. There was also a large grass fire in the area and investigators think it might have been sparked by power lines downed by the wind. Isolated showers and thunderstorms are again in the forecast for this afternoon.
