Police Respond To Stabbing At Assisted Living Complex
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Two people were stabbed early Wednesday after a domestic disturbance turned violent at an assisted living apartment complex in Old East Dallas.
Police were called at around 1:00 a.m. to the Roseland Garden Apartments along Washington Avenue, just south of Lemmon Avenue. Officers said that a man and a woman -- both in their 50s -- began to get into an argument about something that had happened in their past.
The woman told investigators that the man became violent and assaulted her several times. That is when she grabbed a knife and stabbed the man before trying to run away. However, the man grabbed the woman and kept her from leaving. This spilled out into an apartment hallway, where a third person became involved.
A relative of the man -- also in her 50s -- came outside with a knife and stabbed the woman in the back. The woman was taken to the hospital with bruises to her face and arms, and a stab wound. Her current condition is not known.
The man and his relative were taken to the hospital too, and their conditions are also not known. Officials stated that the man will face aggravated assault family violence charges after he is released from hospital care.
No names have been released in this case.
Joanna Parahams lives at the apartment complex and was stunned to wake up to this commotion. "It rattled me," she said. "It really do, to wake up and hear that somebody got stabbed, and I'm up on the fourth floor and didn't know anything about it. It is very surprising."
