Three Dead In Early Morning Arlington Crash

ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - Three people are dead and two others have been seriously hurt after a one-car accident early this morning in Arlington.

The crash was reported around 3 a.m. Monday in the 700 block of Southeast Green Oaks Boulevard.

According to police, a speeding Honda Accord lost control and ran into a tree in front of Ferguson Junior High.  An officer on patrol nearby spotted a flash of light and discovered the accident.

Two people died at the scene. Twin brothers Stephen and Michael Eckel were killed, authorities say.

A third person - a female - died later at JPS Hospital in Fort Worth. She was identified Monday afternoon as Danielle Ruthstrom,19, of Arlington.  The other two passengers - both male - are listed in serious condition.

Police say the people involved in the crash were between the ages of 17 and 21.

Arlington police say they are looking at speed and alcohol as part of their investigation.  An open bottle was discovered among the wreckage.

Police say there have been 32 fatal accidents in Arlington this year.
