Thieves Steal From Gabby's Sanctuary ARK
CEDAR HILL (CBSDFW.COM) - Thieves stole saddles, stirrups, bridles, halters, reins, bits and harnesses from Gabby's Sanctuary ARK Thursday night.
"All they took was my tack and that stuff's expensive," said Terry Ottley who established the chairty for animals in need.
Known for its non-profit work, including helping animals orphaned after the tornado destruction in Moore, Oklahoma, the sanctuary helps underprivileged children, too.
Ottley leases the land for the non-profit, which takes in all types of four-legged friends. But the park holds clinics for horses that need help; rehabilitates them and even has a garage sale scheduled this weekend to raise funds.
Unfortunately, proceeds from the sale will now have to cover last night's losses of $1000 or more.
Ottley fought back tears as she explained that had the thieves simply asked, she would have lent them her tack.
"All you had to do was just ask me, and I would have allowed you to use my stuff," said Ottley, whose efforts are still focused on finding funds for horse medication.
