RUNAWAY BAY (CBSDFW.COM) - To police, it is a typical burglary. But the crime has rocked a North Texas town.

"They didn't take anything else in the entire store," explained Herman White, owner of the 1 Stop store along Highway 380 in Runaway Bay, "but took it from a young kid that's really going to be going through Hell."

White's security cameras captured a young man breaking his store's glass door on Saturday night. The criminal's target was a jar filled with cash for the family of Kino Sanders. "It was going to be a big help, no matter how little it was or how much they raise," said Marc Sanders, Kino's father.

The 10-year-old boy was recently diagnosed with leukemia.

It is believed that the jar had collected more than $1,000.

But Kino's compassion for the thief is as remarkable as his courage fighting cancer. "I thought to myself, maybe they need that money for themselves," said Kino.

Others in town are not nearly as forgiving. "Hope they can search their soul and ask God to forgive them," said White, who has now replaced the jar, and it is already filling up with more donations.

Police said that they have a good idea about who the thief is, and have both security camera video and fingerprint evidence to help in their investigation.
