The View Back East: Giants Still Have A Chance

The New York Giants almost pulled off a monumental upset of the undefeated Green Bay Packers but just fell short. There's a silver lining for the Giants because the Dallas Cowboys blew a huge opportunity by losing to the Cardinals. If the Giants can win three out of four and sweep the Cowboys they will win the division. The Cowboys have to be wary of the Giants and they face off in week 14. The Eagles and Redskins continue their disappointing seasons as both lost last week. Here is a recap of last week's games and a preview of this week's.

Philadelphia Eagles v Seattle Seahawks

Seahawks 31 Eagles 14

The Eagles season continues to go down the tube. Vince Young had a very disappointing game as he threw four interceptions. The Eagles defense gave up 148 rushing yards and two touchdowns to Marshawn "Beast Mode" Lynch. The only bright side for the Eagles was that LeSean McCoy continued his great season with 133 total yards and two touchdowns. DeSean Jackson continued his terrible season and it doesn't look like he's going to get paid what he wants after the season. Will Coach Reid survive after this season? He's been there for a long time, but it might be time for a change. They face the Dolphins this week and it doesn't look good against a resurgent Miami team. Prediction: Dolphins 24 Eagles 20

New York Jets v Washington Redskins

                  Jets 34 Redskins 19

The only bright side for the Redskins in this game was Roy Helu. Helu had another terrific performance with 142 total yards and a touchdown.  Rex Grossman still can't make it as an NFL starting quarterback. Their defense got shredded by the Jets and things won't get better against the Patriots this week. Prediction: Patriots 34 Redskins 17

Green Bay Packers v New York Giants
EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ - DECEMBER 04: Donald Driver #80 of the Green Bay Packers catches a 7-yard touchdown reception against Corey Webster #23 of the New York Giants in the fourth quarter at MetLife Stadium on December 4, 2011 in East Rutherford, New Jersey. (Photo by Al Bello/Getty Images)

                  Packers 38 Giants 35

This was the game of the year and came down to a last-second field goal by Mason Crosby to win it for the Packers. The Giants went punch for punch with Green Bay, but could not stop Aaron Rodgers and the offense in the fourth quarter. The Giants and their fans will say that the referees made some bad calls that went against the Giants and that have been one of the great debates all week. One particular play was a pass to Jake Ballard in the end zone that was ruled incomplete but several people will say he was inbounds. Nonetheless the offense was on fire. Eli Manning threw for 347 yards with three touchdowns and one interception. The interception went for a touchdown and he also fumbled, but he rallied this team to tie it up in the fourth quarter. Ahmad Bradshaw returned and produced 47 total yards.

His return only helped Brandon Jacobs, who ran for 58 yards and a touchdown. Victor Cruz and Hakeem Nicks each had huge games. Cruz caught seven balls for 119 yards and Nicks caught seven balls for 89 yards and two touchdowns. The one negative for this team was the defense. The defense gave up 449 yards and gave up the game-winning drive at the end. The Giants can't dwell on this game and they must focus on the Dallas Cowboys for a Sunday night showdown in Dallas. This team has lost four straight, but needs to win if they want a shot at the playoffs. Prediction: Giants 27 Cowboys 24

Who will win this division at the end? This will be one of the more exciting playoff races in the league. It will come down to the very end when they play each other week 17 in New York. This week's game will have huge ramifications on the race.
