The View Back East: Eagles Look Dangerous Again
It was another intense week in the NFC East. The Giants struggled to beat a winless Miami team. The Redskins got shut out by the Bills and the Eagles dominated the Cowboys. Here is a recap of the games and a preview of this week's games.
Giants 20 Dolphins 17
The Giants came off a bye week and looked sluggish until the second half. They were down 17-10 at halftime, but bounced back and scored ten unanswered points in the second half. The defense dominated in the second half and the offense got back on track. Eli Manning had another solid game with 349 yards and two touchdowns. The run game was not there as Ahmad Bradshaw had only 50 yards rushing and Brandon Jacobs had only ten yards. Victor Cruz continued his breakout season with seven catches for 99 yards and a touchdown. The defense had five sacks and an interception.
The Giants take on the Patriots in New England this week and they may have to play without Ahmad Bradshaw and Hakeem Nicks. Bradshaw is out indefinitely with a cracked bone in his foot and Nicks is dealing with a hamstring injury. If they don't have either player then it will be an even tougher task. The Patriots are coming off a tough loss in Pittsburgh so they will be fired up for revenge. The Giants had a chance with a healthy Bradshaw and Nicks, but they will not be able to overcome the injuries to beat them this week.
Prediction: Patriots 34 Giants 27
Bills 23 Redskins 0
The Redskins were blanked on the road in Coach Mike Shanahan's first career shutout. The Redskins can't get anything going on offense and look like pretenders after their hot start. John Beck isn't the answer at quarterback and the loss of Tim Hightower has been a huge blow to the run game. The offensive line can't protect anybody and look like one of the worst units in the NFL. The defense isn't playing that bad, but they are on the field almost the whole game. There's nothing the Redskins can build on in this game and take on the rejuvenated 49ers this week. Is another shutout looming?
Prediction: 49ers 17 Redskins 7
Eagles 34 Cowboys 7
The Eagles look explosive again and look to get on a roll. That's bad news for the rest of the NFC. If this team makes the playoffs they can beat anybody. Michael Vick had 279 yards passing with two touchdowns and 50 yards rushing. LeSean McCoy continued his huge year with 185 yards rushing and two touchdowns. The defense also looked dominant as they held the usually explosive Cowboys offense to seven points, an interception and three sacks. This team looks like it is turning things around and the rest of the NFC East are nervous right now.
The Eagles play the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football this week. The Bears won't be able to stop the Eagles explosive attack or protect Jay Cutler. The Eagles should dominate once again.
Prediction: Eagles 27 Bears 14
Can the Giants sustain their lead in the NFC East and end the Patriots' home winning streak? Can the Redskins upset the 49ers? Will the Eagles continue their resurgence? It should be another great week in the NFC East and recaps of all the games will be in next week's article.
