The View Back East: 'Boys Keep Rolling
The Dallas Cowboys are in control of their destiny for first place in the NFC East. It has become a two team race unless the Eagles get hot and run the table. The Cowboys came back and defeated the Dolphins 20-19 on Thanksgiving after beating the Redskins last week. The Giants have to face the Saints this week in a rough environment in New Orleans. The Redskins continue to struggle in a lost season. The Eagles have to get hot if they want to make the playoffs and they got a big victory over the Giants last week. Here is a recap of the games from week 11 and a preview of this week's games.
Dallas 27 Redskins 24
The Cowboys continued their streak and defeated the Redskins in overtime last week. The Redskins put up a fight and tied the game in the closing seconds to force overtime. Redskins' kicker Graham Gano missed a 52-yard field goal in overtime and gave the Cowboys good field position. Dallas took advantage and Tony Romo drove the team down the field. Dallas kicker Dan Bailey nailed a 39-yard field goal to win it.
They now are in first place in the NFC East and put a ton of pressure on the Giants. Washington quarterback Rex Grossman had a good game with 289 yards passing with two touchdowns and one interception. They could not muster a running game though and that hurt them in the game. The defense was solid, but Tony Romo picked them apart for 292 yards passing and three touchdowns.
Dallas defeated the Dolphins at the end of regulation on Thanksgiving in a much needed victory. They still have to face the Giants twice so they can take control of the division if they sweep them. They head to Arizona next week and should take care of business there. The Redskins head to Seattle this week, but they do get wide-receiver Santana Moss back from injury so they might be able to pull off the upset. Prediction: Redskins 17 Seattle 21
Eagles 17 Giants 10
The Giants were supposed to destroy the Eagles, who were without quarterback Michael Vick and wide-receiver Jeremy Maclin. The Giants dropped the ball and let Vince Young drive the Eagles down the field in the fourth-quarter and win the game. Young didn't have a great game, but won the game at the end. He passed for 258 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions. LeSean McCoy rushed for 113 yards and had a 60-yard run to ice the game in the fourth-quarter. DeSean Jackson, who started a week after getting benched for missing a team meeting, led the team with 88 yards receiving and had a 51-yard punt-return. They outplayed the Giants and their defense was superb. They only gave up 10 points and forced two turnovers.
Eli Manning had a poor game with only 264 passing yards and a touchdown with one interception. His offensive-line was terrible the entire game and he had no help from the running game. Brandon Jacobs could only rush for 21 yards. The Giants defense came to play, but the offense was horrific. The Giants play the Saints in New Orleans this week on Monday Night Football. They are a team on a downward spiral right now. They have lost two in a row and three in a row looks likely. Prediction: Giants 21 Saints 31
The Eagles head home to play the New England Patriots in a must-win game if they have any hope of making the playoffs. The team is 4-6 and needs to run the table. The Eagles just don't have enough offense or defense to stop the Patriots. Prediction: Patriots 34 Eagles 27
The Cowboys are hot and the Giants and Eagles need to win this week if they want to keep up. Looking at the Cowboys schedule, it looks likely they are going to win the division. The Giants schedule looks too tough for them to overcome and the Eagles need a miracle to make the playoffs. Look for recaps of the games in next week's edition of the View Back East!
