The Very Best of Everything in 2012

As the end of the year nears, it is time to take a moment to look back to see 2012's biggest hits. Other than the presidential election, the battles this year make for some great No. 1 competition. Companies, writers, public relation experts and cities all vie for the golden top spot. The results are in for the very best of everything this year. The following 10 have been crowned the top of the class of 2012.
The Best Smartphones: Apple iPhone 5 And Samsung Galaxy III

As Samsung rose through the ranks with its Galaxy III, Apple took its opponent to the court room. The iPhone 5 arrived with much fanfare hoping to beat the competition. In the end the experts at CNET have concluded that the Apple iPhone 5 and the Samsung Galaxy III share the number one spot for 2012 with a battle worth calling a prizefight. Mac lovers are staying with their beloved iPhone but now Windows users have a great smartphone that matches up to the iPhone's abilities.

The Best Burger: Five Guys

Market Force bases research on "customer intelligent" surveying preferences of consumers throughout country. After votes were counted and the number of locations factored in, Market Force determined that the top American 2012 burger joint choice for the nation's inhabitants is Five Guys Burgers.

The Best City: Houston

New York and L.A. might be hot cities, but the experts at Forbes have named Houston the number one city in America for its overall "coolest" appeal. The economy has assisted Houston in gaining the top spot. With a 2.6 percent growth in jobs, Houston has enjoyed an influx of people moving in to snag those paychecks. The new arrivals are creating a market for new housing and developers are turning vacant factories and warehouses into a hip downtown full of restaurants and galleries.

The Best Job: Registered Nurse

Want to get a job and keep it? As the population grows and ages, people will always need medical assistance so it makes perfect sense that Registered Nurse tops 2012's list of best jobs. U.S. News Money compared jobs based on projected growth rates, job prospects, salary and job satisfaction to give RN the top spot.

The Best Company To Work for: Bain & Company

Prestigieus consulting firm Bain & Company is the best place to work, according to a survey by Glassdoor, the job information website, which talked to over 250,000 employees from various companies. Bain & Company gets high marks for being a good place to form relationships with and learn from fellow employees.

The Best Social Networking Site: Facebook 

It comes as no surprise that Facebook is the number one spot for social networking not only in the United States but around the world. According to SNPlanet social networking experts Facebook "is the best known social network" meaning you're more likely to find people you know there than anywhere else. The Best Family Vacation: Yellowstone

Surefamilies swarm to Walt Disney World, but nature still wins over man-made attractions. U.S.News Travel has recognized Yellowstone as the number one best family vacation spot in the United States, basing its decision on the "abundance of attractions, unique sights, world-class museums, and family-friendly hotels."

The Best Movie: "The Dark Knight Rises" And "The Avengers"

How fitting that, in the year of an important Presidential election, movie goers have voted two super hero movies as the top flicks of the year. FilmCrave.com has named "The Dark Knight Rises" as the number one movie for 2012, with "Avengers" in the second spot. With the inauguration coming up, perhaps the politicians should take notice that their constituents are want a real-life super hero to save the day!

The Best HDTV: Panasonic TC-PST50 Series

America loves its TV shows but choosing the best TV can be daunting. CNET has named the Panasonic TC-PST50 series as the best HDTV in 2012. The ST50 series TV's amazing picture quality with its price point made it the number one best HDTV.

The Best Fiction: "Fifty Shades Of Grey"

It is not surprising that the most talked about book of the year has topped the famed New York Times best seller list. "Fifty Shades of Grey" by E. L. James is the first of a trilogy. The exciting and erotic book has attracted women to the written page and sparked major discussions. In a world that has largely stepped away from books as entertainment, it is thrilling when a novel creates so much excitement.
