"The Jock Itch" with Jasmine Sadry: Tony Romo's Expensive Wedding Shin-dig!
DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN) Leading off my "Jock Itch" for Today: Tony Romo is set to walk down the aisle with Candace Crawford soon and he's pulling out ALL the stops for his big day!
TMZ is reporting that Tony and Candace will exchange their "I do's" at Arlington Hall, a historic mansion in Dallas.
Hopefully, Jessica Simpson hasn't googled the pictures of this place or seen it on the couple's website registry because she would seriously dive head first into a bag of pork rinds and canned cheese from depression... www.tmz.com
And in OTHER "itch" worthy news...
Speaking of Jessica, rumor has it that her man is ONCE again telling her to drop the weight or he WON'T marry her, because at 5'3", she's supposedly hit the 150 mark!
Sources close to the couple are saying that it's not JUST Jessica, though, that's been packing on the pounds. Apparently, her fiance, former NFL-er for the 49ers, Eric Johnson, has put on a good 30 pounds--all supposedly in organic food, while Jessica has packed on HER weight by giving into her love for Mexican food, margaritas and "anything fried."
Doesn't the couple that eat together, usually stay together? And gimme a break! Like he's gonna ditch a BILLIONAIRE like Jessica Simpson for a couple of fat rolls!
The guy KNOWS where HIS Texas Toast is buttered! www.nationalenquirer.com
Steelers wide-out, Hines Ward was handcuffed at gunpoint early yesterday morning in LA after cops pulled over the car he was in because it was reported stolen!
TMZ is reporting it like this: "The 'Dancing With the Stars' contestant was a passenger in a Honda Civic around 2 AM ... when LAPD officers flipped on their lights and sirens and pulled the car over. Law enforcement sources tell us cops had run the license plate and noticed the car had been reported stolen. We're told police drew their weapons ... and ordered both Hines and the female driver out of the car and placed them both in handcuffs. The female driver then explained ... SHE was the person who reported the car stolen in the first place after an incident involving a valet. But she got her car back ... and forgot to tell cops to call off the alert."
Wow, three observations from that report: 1) Hines Ward is defined as the "Dancing with the Stars" contestant over the fact that he's a Super Bowl winning wide-receiver. I'm sure he's THRILLED to be known for the first over the latter. 2) A Honda Civic? Can you really see Hines rollin' through LA in a CIVIC?! At least go for the Accord, Hines, if you're gonna do it big! and 3) Where the heck did he find this girl?? Reporting the car STOLEN over a valet incident? I sure hope crazy is hot...
Anyway, after the police cleared up the mess, the two were free to leave. The cops noted that Hines was extremely "cooperative and understanding" the whole time.
Watch and learn, Rashard Mendenhall. But DON'T tweet! www.tmz.com
And yet ANOTHER NFL-er is caught up in police "misunderstanding" drama!
Titans runningback Chris Johnson says he was targeted for being, "young, black and rich!"
TMZ is reporting that he got a visit from the Orlando Police Department because they were investigating a "non-specific" tip about some really high-end cars coming and leaving from Chris' condo in the afternoon.
With all of the suspicion, cops ended up performing a "knock and talk" at his house to follow up on what was going on. When they showed up, they said that he was "cooperative" and "cordial" — and actually was in the middle of a shoot for a TV project.
After realizing that nothing illegal was partaking at Chris' condo, the cops left and THAT'S when Chris' Twitter thumbs went into action.
What is it with these athletes and Twitter???
He tweeted, "Y did the police just walk in my condo saying they think it's drug activity because it's alot of traffic but it was the MTV camera crew."
He added, "Hard being young, black and rich." www.tmz.com
Former Steelers turned Redskins running back, Willie Parker, was running his mouth on 93.7 The Fan in Pittburgh's radio show, saying that the Redskins don't care about football!
"Being in Washington, they don't care about football. I didn't feel good from day one there. They weren't about football. They were about partying. If I had my choice, I'd go back to Pittsburgh with my boys."
Ouch...
As a Cowboys fan, it's like choosing the better of the two evils, but you can't blame the guy for wanting to go back to Pittsburgh! CLEARLY, it's a different team, Willie. There's a reason that the Steelers have appeared in THREE Super Bowls in the past six seasons and the Redskins can't even manage to NOT finish the season in last place in the NFC East. www.pittsburgh.cbslocal.com
Brad Sham (long-time radio voice of the Dallas Cowboys) wants the Cowboys to go after Nnamdi Asomugha and I second that!
I'm sure most Cowboys fans would too, considering he's QUITE the stud defensive back.
To put it into words, Brad said, "I hope they're after Asomugha. I don't want to pretend I'm smart enough to know who's worth spending what money on, but the safety in Buffalo might work out, Whitner. I like Quintin Mikell. And in the line, I don't know how he'd fit in Rob Ryan's 3-4, but I'm a Ray Edwards fan. He may be a 4-3 and exclusively." www.dallasnews.com
This comes as no shock but Blake Griffin is the NBA Rookie of the Year!
The acrobatic Dunk Champion had one of THE best rookie seasons in NBA history, averaging 22.5 points, 12.1 boards, and 3.8 assists per game!
Did I mention that he managed to nab a coveted spot on the West All-Star team, becoming the first rookie to accomplish that feat since little ol' Yao Ming did that back in 2003?
Like Blake didn't have THIS award coming months and months ago?
Blake's coach, Vinny Del Negro said, "If someone doesn't vote for Blake, they haven't watched a lot of basketball."
Don't Mess with Texas!
Well, at least the Texas Longhorns...
The Austin-American Statesman is reporting that those working for the Longhorn Network better mind their p's and q's or not talk smack about Bevo or else they'll get canned!
That's right! They have the right to fire the ESPN talent that's hired for the new regional cable network!
According to an excerpt from the contract, "in the event that UT reasonably determines that any on-air talent does not reflect the quality and reputation desired by UT for the Network based on inappropriate statements made or actions taken by such
talent and so notifies ESPN, ESPN will cause such talent to be promptly replaced (and will in any event no longer allow them on air following such notice)."
I hope they have PLENTY of burnt orange gear in tow, or it's going to be a LONG season... www.statesman.com
And finally....
Poor Jose Canseco just can't seem to get anymore pathetic if he tried.
Last we heard from Jose, he had sent his twin brother to a celebrity boxing match in his place and now, he was seen on Twitter trying to work a TV deal.
Yes, he was actually pleading for a TV gig, via Twitter.
Here's how it played out chronologically:
"Can any top executive from true tv please contact me asap about a reality tv
show .I have a great idea"
"Email me at Jc7264@yahoo.com"
"True tv contact me at jc7264@yahoo.com"
Now, I'm no expert on pitching for jobs on Twitter, but I'd think that if you were pitching to a TV Network, you'd at least spell their name right.... www.deadspin.com
And THAT'S my "Jock Itch!"
