The Home Depot Helping With Moore Recovery
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - It has been more than a week since a deadly tornado ravaged the city of Moore, Oklahoma. The twister left 24 people dead and hundreds injured. Homes, schools and hospitals were leveled under the tornado's fierce winds. And for the survivors, the task at hand now is one of recovery and rebuilding.
North Texans are lending their support to the cause.
Volunteer workers from The Home Depot in Dallas are heading to Moore on Tuesday morning to bring a new wave of supplies and assistance. They are just one of four locations that will head to the damaged city for the recovery project. More than 250 workers total will be joining others in Moore to help move debris and clean up the area.
"It's hard to absorb what you see," said worker Troy Miller. "So, that's why everyone wants to come up and just help, even if it's just for a day, to give a little bit of their time and maybe it will help on the path to recovery."
The Home Depot has also set aside $1 million to fund the relief and recovery efforts in Moore and other areas impacted by recent tornadoes.
