The 7 Dumbest Arguments In Sports

DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN) -- Everyone has their opinions -- unfortunately, some of them are just better than others.

Here are the 7 worst opinions circulating around the sports world today.

1. "Which team has Carmelo Anthony ever made better?"

This futile attempt to attack Carmelo Anthony is nothing short of laughable.

Prior to last season, Anthony had never missed the playoffs in his 12-year career. (Kobe Bryant, Dwayne Wade, and Kevin Durant can't say that.)

Will he ever make the NBA's All Defensive team? No. But he's been one of the league's most dangerous scorers over the past 12 seasons.

If you want to point to his lack of NBA titles -- fine. Feel free to do so.

But which teams has he made better over his 12 year career? The answer: all of them.

2. Johnny Manziel likes to party; therefore, he will fail in the NFL

Johnny Manziel isn't the first pro athlete to indulge in excessive partying.

Though without the social media exposure, Michael Irvin, Charles Barkley, Lawrence Taylor and Joe Namath did it. Their careers turned out pretty well.

If he performs well in Cleveland, we will forget about the extra curriculars. We may even embrace it.

"Johnny Football" branded vodka anyone?

3. Kobe Bryant isn't a team player

How dare Kobe Bryant take the maximum amount allowable under the CBA! Who would be so selfish?

Yes, his contract is larger than any other in the NBA at nearly $25 million this season. But he's not the only one maxing out.

Kevin Durant quietly signed his maximum extension in 2013. He was applauded. Carmelo Anthony will soon do the same, and no one will blink.

Sure, there are major injury concerns with the 35-year-old guard (and 16-time All Star). But if he's healthy, he's worth every penny.

NOTE: Gordon Hayward, yes Gordon Hayward, just inked his max deal with the Jazz. Chew on that.

4. LeBron James isn't and never will be Michael Jordan

True, and vice versa. They are simply different players in different eras.

First off, why compare them? Is there nothing more to talk about?

LeBron James is unquestionably the best player in the NBA, is a four-time MVP, and a two-time NBA Champion (and he's 29).

If you want to point to MJ's six rings, fine.

But I'm placing Robert Horry on the Mount Rushmore of NBA greats, and leaving MJ off. Horry has 7 rings.

5. Nelson Cruz doesn't deserve to be an All Star

There's an important distinction to make here.

Nelson Cruz cheated; he isn't (currently) a cheater.

He leads the league in HR (28) and RBI (73) and is a legitimate MVP candidate.

If you want to punish him for a lifetime for the mistake he made in 2012, go ahead.

MLB punished him for 50 games and moved on. So should you.

Raise your hand if you would turn Cruz away from your favorite team.

6. Jimmy Graham isn't a tight end

When money didn't matter, Jimmy Graham called himself a tight end on his Twitter biography and on Facebook.

Things changed drastically when he was franchise tagged by the Saints. Suddenly, the "wide receiver" had the opportunity to make an additional $5 million.

He sits in on tight end meetings and is largely covered by linebackers and safeties, according to Sean Payton.

Yes, the tight end position is changing. But when did Graham change positions?

7. NASCAR is not a sport

Stop it all ready. If you don't like NASCAR, that's fine.

But to discredit the sport and call it a "hobby" or "activity" -- simply ridiculous.

Let's line up the world's top-10 golfers and top-10 NASCAR drivers and let them engage in a foot race. Then we will see who the real "athletes" are.

I can just see Phil Mickelson reaching for his inhaler as Dale Earnhardt Jr. sips his Mountain Dew at the finish line.
