Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot 2015Since the 1940s, the Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot has been part of the holiday season in DFW. Before packing in those calories later that day with the family, sign up for the Turkey Trot and work up an appetite that will benefit others. Sweat a little, give a little and celebrate with good people on Thursday, Nov. 26 at 9 a.m. starting at Dallas City Hall. Both eight-mile run and 5K run or walk options are available for those ready to give and receive this Thanksgiving.

Dallas Cowboys Thanksgiving Day GameIt's a tradition here in Dallas/Fort Worth to watch the Dallas Cowboys Thanksgiving Day game. Whether you manage to get tickets to this popular event, or watch it from home, it's hard to say you spent Thanksgiving in DFW without knowing how the game turned out. If you don't want to watch it alone, hit one of DFW's many sports bars to watch and celebrate with the locals. When in Dallasites do as Dallasites do on Thursday, Nov. 26 at AT&T Stadium at 3 p.m., with loud, boisterous, true cowboy fans all around, it doesn't matter where you are from, you will be watching this game amongst new friends.

Autumn At The Arboretum/Holiday At The ArboretumNow that the brutal summer temperatures have subsided, the nationally-recognized Dallas Arboretum is ready to put on its fall parade of colors. The Autumn at the Arboretum display of thousands of vibrant pumpkins is open through Nov. 25. Starting on Nov. 27, the Holiday at the Arboretum display will debut its holiday landscapes, complete with the returning 12 Days of Christmas scenery and Nativity scenes in the DeGolyer House. Whether you make the tail end of the Autumn at the Arboretum or the debut of the Holiday at the Arboretum, both options will fill you with fresh air, a sparkle in your eye, and the opportunity for family bonding with a picturesque background. There is no better place for gorgeous landscape photos and year-round floral delights than the Dallas Arboretum.

Thanksgiving At The StockyardsStarting Friday, Nov. 27 and running through Sunday, Nov. 29, the Fort Worth Stockyards is open for fun Thanksgiving family celebrations. Forget Black Friday shopping and the hassle, from 11:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., the Stockyards will be the site of face painting, gunfight shows and a visit from Santa Claus. Santa and face painting hours are from noon to 4 p.m. Wild Western gunfight shows happen at 11:45 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. Eat, play, shop and enjoy strolling down the brick-laden streets with your family for a taste of Thanksgiving-style Texas culture at the Fort Worth Stockyards.
