Texas Tech's Kingsbury Gets Rousing Reception
LUBBOCK (AP) - Kliff Kingsbury's time at Houston and Texas A&M as offensive coordinator was purely business.
His homecoming to Texas Tech is personal.
The former Texas Tech quarterback was formally introduced as the head coach of the Red Raiders on Friday. He succeeds Tommy Tuberville, who unexpectedly left for Cincinnati.
The 33-year-old Kingsbury, the second-youngest coach in the Bowl Subdivision behind Toledo's Matt Campbell, has never been a head coach. He has a four-year deal that averages $2 million a year. Not bad for a guy who just five years ago was making less than $30,000 a year as a quality control assistant at Houston.
